La Torta Gorda, a culinary gem in San Francisco, welcomed its first guests on July 2, 2002, introducing a slice of Puebla, Mexico, to the heart of the city. The restaurant, rooted in the rich flavors and traditions of Puebla, was the brainchild of founder Armando Macuil, who aimed to bring the taste of his homeland to the Bay Area and beyond.
Starting with takeout services, Armando's vision grew, leading to the establishment of La Torta Gorda at its present address, 2833 24th Street in San Francisco. The location boasts both indoor and outdoor dining options, complete with a charming patio perfect for those who cherish basking in the sunshine and enjoying the breeze.
